Keyword research is one of the most important steps in SEO. Understanding what people are searching for and how to rank your website accordingly can make or break you. There are many ways to do keyword research, but this post will focus on using a free SEO tool called “Google Keywords Tool.”
What is Keyword in SEO?
A keyword is a word or phrase typed into Google search engines like “what is key.” Key words are important because they tell us how many times people search for that particular subject over time and which websites show up on top when searched. Understanding these patterns allows content writers to capitalize on trending topics and keywords that have high value towards increasing website traffic.
How do I find relevant keywords?
First thing’s first, go to google adwords . This isn’t completely necessary if you just want some.
Google Adwords is a pay-per view advertising service that covers the first search result with an ad. If you want to know what keywords are trending, scroll down and look at how many times each keyword was searched for over time. This will be useful later on because it shows which key words have been popular over time as well as showing us which ones aren’t currently being used very often or don’t bring much traffic.
Analyzing Keyword Popularity Using Google Trends
For this example we’ll use “Google Analytics.” In order to understand what people are searching for through google analytics, go onto google trends using your desired topic .
This screenshot shows us that more people are looking for “SEO tools” than any other keywords related to SEO. It also tells me that it is currently trending up which means more people are searching for this keyword over time. This information can be used in multiple ways but the main use of google trends is to find out if a certain key word is worth your investment or not. How do I use Google Keyword Tool?
Now that we understand what people are searching for and how popular keywords have been over time, it’s time to find out the competition. This is where google keyword tool comes in handy! Enter your topic into the search bar and hit enter .
This will bring you a list of all related topics with their search volume per month (the lower this number is, generally the better chance you’ll have at ranking higher). It also gives us some other interesting information such as: Cost Per Click – How much advertisers pay on average to get ads seen by someone typing these terms into google Search % – The percentage of times each term was searched for over all searches Unique Searches – Number of unique
How to Do Keyword Research using Google Suggestions
There are many ways to use this information but I find it most useful when looking at the competition. This tells you how much of a headache competing with these terms will be and if they’re worth your time or not. This is by far one of my favorite tools because it allows me to quickly gauge which keywords have search volume, difficulty, and profit potential all in one place!
